before writing anything i would just like to point out what a funny lady Ms Lynn Blackie is i have just read her craaaaazy email and was in stitches - think my brazillian sister thinks av gone a bit mad - our ´mom´is away and when i tried to explain what blackster had written about her fish...well lets just say she didnt get it and walked away!!!! also Blackie you are a blooming star - and if you have posted those heat magazines off i will ......i will.....i will be both the happiest and the most popular english girl here - well among the small group of english i know!!!! thank you so much chicken!!! i love you!!!!!
things here are blooming fab!!!! i have had a top week with the kids and am loving work. the teachers have started to work on loads more stuff with the little nippers and i have got pretty involved. this might sound silly, as in why would i not be involved i am over here working??? well the answers ladies and gents is that the language barrier can make it so that i am more of a helper than a worker! now however i have a bible - a portug and engl dictuanary all in one!!! this means we can look up words and comunicate with one another about ideas and thoughts about the class - also i am attending portu lessons whic is helping lots!!! any way - when i arrived there was nothing to the room really.it was like a little blue box. not literally - can you imagine - 12 children in a blue box....now that would be cruel. anyway there was no decorations or anything and the toys were just in a corner. now!!!!! we have a door with the class name on it and some flowers made of cotton - there a bit like puppets!! then i have taken individual pictures of the kids, the kids have painted flower shapes - well finger painted - and then we have put the pictures on the paintings and hung them from the celling like on springs - its amazing what they make out of day to day stuff - cardborad, old bottles - we cut then and made them into springy things!!! we have also started having a topic each day - today was story time - yesterday painting - i know that it all sounds like really basic things but the school have just been getting the kids there so there has been no real structiure to their day. they are also starting to wash their hands before food and after the loo and we are potty training one of the girls - good fun as i am sure you can imagine!!!
the kids have loved this week. they have ran round in circles with excitement! literally - we have had some right lumps and bumps! they have been cool thoguh - i have taken about two hundred pictures of them - literally- as they have not seen a digital camera before they want to look at the picture on the back - they dont understand that to see a picture of themselves i have to take it first! i have some lovely ones - god how i am going to bore you when i get home!!!!!
it really has been fab. the school have had lots of donations and the children dont appear as aggressive now that they are more occupied - althoguh there is still a high level of punching - for no reason - stealing toys and hiding them...etc!!!! god how i love them thoguh!
also - this will be the last thing about the nipppers - promise- i can communicate with them more now so i am understanding things like - can you read us a story, he punched me, (thats normally an obvious one though as they tend to come over crying and pointing) and can i have some money!! i am getting to know there characters now and truly get quite excited about going to work on a monday just to see them!
althoguh thats not to say that i am not enjoying my weekends!!!!!!!!!
this weekend - it rained!!!! really rained so we did not go camping - as it would have been like camping in england in the winter! ok maybe slight exageration! sooo sarah and phil found us a little pub. we went and drank tequilla!!!!! lots and lots of it too!!! the plan was just a few quite ones but needless to say.....after one too many we decided to go to a club at the Lagoona, its were everyone goes. we danced the night away - well i did until about 2 or 3am. then i had a nap - well ok a sleep - on one of the safa´s. to be fair i needed my bed but sadly we were too far away! the manger told me it was á club´i agreed, think he was trying to tell me not to sleep - due to my exaustion i fell asleep sitting up. i woke up to two of my english buddies asleep next to me and a camera flashing!!! the pictures are funny! bless us - we cant hack it like the brasillians can. as we got in at 5am needless to say saturday was a gonna. i was in bed most of it - got up at 130 ish and had breakfast was about to go back to bed but my brasillian mum pulled a face and asked if i was going to sleep AGAIN! and then commented on how english people drink too much. i was tempted to agree and just plod back to my room but as if to prove a point i got dressed and sat with my mom and sister and learnt some portug. later watched dvds...
sunday....went for a walk. it was going to be a stroll, and we thoguht it was cold (me and ucy) so we were all wrapped up! low and behold within half a mile the sun was beaming down on us and we were walking the streets in roled up jeans and t shirts with hoody´s round our waist! and people were looking at us like fools because....
since the weekend! school´s been good! we ahve had lots of visitors and we have a new girl that works in the kitchen and helps with the kids - she speaks english and portu and is a right laugh! one of the kids has nits...so probably by the end of the week we will all have nits.....mmmm av been to my portu lesson....mm think thats about it!
we havet tomorrow off,its children´s day tomorrow - nation holiday - all of the kids got toys and everything!! AND rumour has it that it is going to be a sunny one so we are (the english people, the new girl at work and possibly our brasillian brothers and sisters) are going to go to the lagoona beach! we figured that if it is not sunny then we can shop and drink! there´s lots to do in the lagoona! very excited!!!!
mmmm think thats about all!
